Tamper With The Foundation

The most important lesson that I’ve learned on this journey towards self-realization is that you dictate your own pace.  You are what you are.  It’s up to you to be receptive to your inner-voice and be prepared to take action.  Be willing to take a few risks here and there, and if need be, press the re-boot button.  Things won’t always go exactly as planned.  In fact, they seldom do. But, in my experience, it wasn’t until I confronted the real possibility of failure that I started to feel the needle moving in the right direction.  Embrace the challenge. Something spectacular surely awaits you.  My belief is that tampering with the foundation will unearth it.

Cascade

A lot of folks talk about “change,” but few are equipped with the requisite conviction needed for progression to take place.  After all, there is something unnerving about the unknown - isn’t there?  As creatures of habits, and consumers of dogmas, we prefer to have everything mapped out for us rather than revel in the experience of true exploration.  Everyone wants to know the what when where and how, but who, if anyone anymore, champions the what if?

Let 2013 be the year of the dreamers who are do-ers.

Innovator’s Inner-Face: My reflections on David Champion, Co-Founder/CEO of ZuseI had the good fortune of meeting David Champion (pictured above) at a MoMa PS1 event last summer.  I recalled that we both had a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, but we were both too preoccupied with our individual ventures to follow up with one another.  It wasn’t until a mutual friend of ours, Pauline, pressed us to link up and learn more about our commonalities that we made an effort to do so.  I’m glad she did.
We met at Thompson LES, where we broke bread and shared thoughts on our respective projects. Our conversation was intensely collaborative.  As a Lawyer/Banker/Future VC, my approach is always to a) learn about the founder; b) understand the business; and c) poke around for weaknesses.  The consummate entrepreneur, David was able to explain every nuance of his business with razor-like precision. His company, Zuse, is working on a product that we’ll all be using in the very near future.  They are currently developing a web browser for iPads and other tablets, which aims to optimize the user experience - allowing users to view all content they look at every day, in one place, making it the fastest way to access news, social media, email, and more.  I think he’s on to something. Considering David graduated 1st Class with highest mark from Cambridge University, is a trained Architect and Web Designer, and previously co-founded UnitedInsight, I would actually bet money on it.As the mobile, web, and digital landscape continues to shift, look for David and the members of his company to be at the front end of that curve.  We’ll all be the beneficiaries of their endeavors for years to come.~Brandon Buchanan Innovator’s Inner-Face: My reflections on David Champion, Co-Founder/CEO of ZuseI had the good fortune of meeting David Champion (pictured above) at a MoMa PS1 event last summer.

On Friday we had the pleasure of attending a Mixoligi event at The Maritime Hotel.  Congratulations to Brady and everyone over at Mixoligi for having such a successful showing.  The crowd was warm and friendly, the women were beautiful, and two of our favorite DJs were spinning, SOSUPERSAM and Jasmine Solano.  Two of the ladies from Love Me Some came out and partied with us.  The homies from Fermented Beads were in the building as well, showing love as usual.  I had a ton of fun behind the camera that night, but the best part is always socializing.  The only thing missing was Nik (who was out of town), but I like to think that Brandon and I held it down for the Curator brand.
